Stacey Bendet's Fall 2014 collection for Alice + Olivia was pure fantasy. "Enchanted: A Midwinter Night's Dream" blended sharp tailoring with fairy tale decadence like lace, metallics, and brocades. It was an opulent, beautiful presentation, but the fairy tale hair look is totally achievable at home.

You'll only need one product for this look: a lightweight hairspray like TRESemme Two Freeze Hold. You'll also need a 1" curling iron, fine teasing comb, and a soft bristle brush (think boar bristles).

Start out with clean hair. You want to have a light, fluffy texture.

Mist a heat protectant (I used TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave-In Spray, and have for years) and brush through. Technically two products, but you should really always have a heat protectant on hand.

Create a strong, graphic, center part using a rat tail comb.

Curl sections of hair (1 or 2 inches, depending on hair thickness) with a 1" iron. Wrap the iron horizontally to your head. While still warm, pin each curl against your head using pin curl clips or bobby pins. The easiest way to do this is to shake the curl out into your palm, keeping it wound up, and then pin one side of the open curl against your head. If it comes loose, roll it up again and pin.

It's slightly more difficult to master rows of symmetrical, horizontal curls at home. But the inspiration for this look was "sexiness and fantasy" influenced by vintage Victorian charm and bohemian beauty. Imperfect curls fit the bill, IMO. Imagine you're a lightly disheveled courtesan leaving a champagne soaked ball.

Don't stress about taking unevenly sized sections of hair, or your chunky bangs that won't grow out. It's a soft, romantic look.

Let the curls cool completely. Remove the pins and unroll.

Grab your soft bristle brush to start backcombing each curl. I started with a plastic brush (my hair is extremely fine) to loosen up the curls and get some volume going before going in with a boar bristle brush. Be gentle, starting from the bottom of your hair and working upwards so you create volume and not tangles. Build some volume, spray, and tease again until you achieve the size and fluffiness you want.

Once you have the bottom fluffed into cotton candy, tease the roots. Bottom to top is recommended by TRESemme stylists, and is the best way to minimize damage from teasing.

When you're completely finished teasing, neaten up your part with the tail comb. If you're prone to baby hairs, spray the comb with hairspray and smooth any sticky-up hairs just near the part.

This is a really fun look to do and easy to achieve at home since it can be messy and imperfect. The only part that must be precise is the middle part. This gives some contrast to the wild curls for extra drama.

I love this look as is, but you can easily make it a little less sexy-madwoman-in-the-attic and more tousled bombshell. To tame it down for the street, I raked my fingers through my hair, gave it a messier side part, and pinned one piece away from my face. Done.
