How

The extremes of Fashion Week makeup are funny: Some of the most creative looks are a little bold if you're not on the runway. Conversely, some of this season's minimalist looks—no mascara, no eye shadow, no blush—are less complex (and, let's face it, less forgiving) than our day-to-day makeup. But every now and then, there's a look so gorgeous that we're tempted to drop everything, grab a makeup kit, and wear it everywhere, immediately. Case in point: the gilded eye and glowing skin at Sass & Bide. "The designers wanted a fresh, youthful face," makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury tells ELLE.com. "We're doing a glossy twist on the smoky eye with it."

To create a dewy, no-foundation-needed complexion, Tilbury massaged her own Magic Cream into models' skin. (It's not available stateside until fall, but she recommends using a "luxurious, thick" moisturizer.) After spot-concealing any blemishes or redness, she brushed brows upward and gelled them into place. For an understated flush of color, she patted M.A.C lipstick in Crushed Cranberry—a deep burgundy from the brand's forthcoming trend palette—along models' cheekbones.

As for the "oil-slicked eye," Tilbury began by lining the upper lash line and lower waterline with M.A.C Eye Kohl in Teddy, a deep bronze. ("It's not as harsh as black liner," she explains.) She then mixed M.A.C Pigment in Gold Metal with the brand's Water-Based Mixing Medium to create a foil-effect shadow. Using a tapered brush, she applied the mixture along the inner corners of the eyes, smudging the shadow upward and outward above the crease. The finishing touch? A dab of M.A.C Gloss Crème Brillance on lids. (Rosebud Salve will work in a pinch, too.) "It's fresh, luminous, and glowing—with a punky edge," Tilbury says of the finished look. But if you ask us, it's just plain dazzling.
